Celia- Woodland Gardens- GROW! Transcript

In the coming weeks and months we will be posting extracts from the interview transcripts.  These young, beginning farmers had much to say and not all of it could be included in the film (it would have been five hours long) and not all of it was about farming; they have a lot on their minds and we will be sharing it with you.

Q: Why do you farm organically?
A: "I don't think I ever thought to farm any other way but organically as my motivations have always been driven by my environmental concerns about the effects of our agricultural systems on our environment, even an organic system, we're a slightly destructive process, working the soil the way we do which is probably why we grow as intensively as we do here. My goals are really to use as little land to grow as much as I can 'cause I feel like no matter what it's a destructive process disturbing the soil and if I can get as much food as I can off of as little land as possible then that's a good thing."
